From left in alphabetical order by school and then by student, beginning at top left with Cherokee High School.

Cherokee County School District high school seniors have been named National Merit Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation!

The 15 CCSD high school seniors are among the only 2 to 3% of the Class of 2023 honored nationwide with the recognition, which is based on the high scores the students earned on the PSAT. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, they may earn special National Merit scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses that will be awarded in the spring.

“Congratulations to our honorees for earning national recognition commending your dedication to learning,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “The PSAT not only is an indicator of future college success, outstanding scores also reflect the dedication of our teachers to ensuring our students graduate future ready.  Best wishes to our honorees as you complete your senior year and advance to future success!”
