What’s the most innovative idea that you’ve tried in your classroom?
Over the last three years, our Statistical Reasoning classes have partnered with Delta Air Lines, analyzing their social media platforms to determine which posts produce the most significant interactions.  Representatives from Delta Air Lines visit our school to listen to the presentations and then pick a select number of student groups to share their findings at Delta Headquarters in Atlanta.  The Delta Capstone Project aligns standards with real-world applications and improves students' abilities to think critically, operate as a team, and communicate innovative ideas.
Who is the best teacher you ever had and what made him or her special?
My mom was the school teacher who impacted my life on many levels.  I saw the countless times she poured into each of her students and how she genuinely served people by putting them above herself.  Furthermore, her classroom was always engaging, creative, and innovative. She always tried to find new ways to teach the content, never settling for the status quo.
What can parents do to prepare their children for learning?
I believe there are moments for learning all around us.  As a parent of three children, I want my children to be lifelong learners who leverage the classroom as a catapult toward curiosity.  I encourage parents to leverage moments to encourage their children to grow physically, academically, and spiritually by asking questions and learning together.
What are the obstacles to getting all kids to achieve?
We have varying backgrounds, learning styles, interests, etc., that make up who we are.  These differences make education so beautiful, yet it can be challenging to serve each student uniquely.  Consequently, teachers are challenged to assess student differences and adapt teaching practices to maximize the potential of all students, preparing them for a future beyond the classroom walls.
