Two CCSD Seniors Win $25,000 Local Scholarships

Two Cherokee County School District Class of 2026 graduating seniors have earned $25,000 college scholarships from a community foundation!

It is the seventh year of the annual college scholarships presented by the Jason T. Dickerson Family Foundation to graduating CCSD seniors planning a career in veterinary medicine.  Congratulations to the Class of 2026 winners, Taylor Kallbreier of Etowah High School and Rylie McCormick of Woodstock High School, and thank you to the foundation for its support of our students!  Our School Board is laser focused on ensuring our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else.

The foundation considers applicants’ academic record, community service, essay question responses, and references’ recommendations.

Rylie will study biology on a pre-veterinarian track at Valdosta State University with plans to study veterinary medicine at University of Georgia.  A Cherokee County Animal Shelter volunteer, Rylie has played volleyball on travel and school teams since fifth grade and served in her school’s Friends Club.  She works part-time at Publix and completed an internship with an animal eye specialist.

Taylor will study animal science and biology at Berry College.  A part-time worker at Bells Ferry Veterinary Clinic and a Creekside Ranch Rescue volunteer, Taylor is a four-year member of Etowah’s HOSA future health professionals chapter, serving in officer roles including president this school year.  She has run cross-country for 10 years, serving as team captain this school year, and has served in National Honor Society and Beta Club.  Taylor also works part-time at Fleet Feet Canton and additionally volunteers at Ronald McDonald House during school breaks.
