Update on Etowah HS Campus Evacuation
UPDATE 3 p.m.
All EHS and E.T. Booth MS parents were sent the following message directly--
This message is to update you on the incident today that led to the evacuation of Etowah HS.
The EHS evacuation was completed quickly and safely. We greatly appreciate the cooperation of students, staff and families, and the outstanding support of local law enforcement agencies.
The EHS campus has been swept by local and state law enforcement agencies using multiple K-9 units, and no evidence of a bomb was discovered. With their guidance, we have determined that afternoon and evening activities can take place on campus as planned. School will be held in person tomorrow as planned.
The investigation into the threat is continuing, with a focus on filing both criminal charges and school disciplinary action against those involved. Making threats is not a joke. We take all threats to the safety and security of our students, staff and schools very seriously.
Anyone with information that would be helpful to the investigation is asked to contact the CCSD Police Department at 770.704.4354 or make a report through our Vector Alert system. This system allows students, families, staff and community members to report safety concerns of any kind by text, email, phone call or online message, with the option to report anonymously. More information is on our website at https://www.cherokeek12.net/Content2/emergency-notifications [CONTENT_REVIEW InternalLink].

Attention EHS Families:
The Superintendent of Schools has issued an immediate emergency evacuation of Etowah High School due to an anonymous bomb threat as recommended by local and State law enforcement agencies.
Please do not call the campus or come to the campus at this time. We need to keep driveways open for dismissal and phone lines open for emergency communications.
Student drivers will be dismissed from campus at 11:15 a.m. Buses will begin bringing students home immediately after that dismissal. If your child is normally a car rider, please report to E.T. Booth Middle School at 11:30 a.m. to pick them up.
We are taking this threat seriously and conducting a full investigation in an abundance of caution. Law enforcement agencies are arriving at the school to sweep the campus.
